Flaming Hot

Whew, the heat is on. And we are schvitzing. Yet Molly Jackson
keeps turning it up.
Literally. Like on an oxygen-propane bench torch — the
designer’s tool for flame-working, her art of manipulating Pyrex
into jewelry.
Jackson uses a 2,000-degree flame to hand-shape glass
bracelets and rings that look like snapshots of rippling water;
waves of ribbon candy; and slick, frostbitten baubles.
Check out Tuxedo, a collection of transparent rings named for
the piping of color along the edges. Or get your hands on
mouth-blown cobalt blue bubbles strung into necklaces. Frosty
cube pendants look cold to the touch. And clear, oversize Sophia
bracelets resemble cuffs of melting ice.
They’re stunning in person, with a futuristic edge that will make
everyone want to stop and touch.
Now that should get you fired up.

Available at La di Da, 147 Orchard Street, between Stanton and
Rivington Streets (212-529-7384); online at mollyjackson.com.
